General 

Basil is considered a sacred herb in India (Basil Tulsi), where it is believed in Ayurvedic medicine that it opens the heart and mind, bestowing the energy of love and devotion. It is said to strengthen faith, compassion and clarity.

Blends well with

Bergmot, Frankincense, Geranium, Ginger, Lavender, Lemon, Marjoram, Neroli, Rosemary, Peppermint, Pine and Lemon Tea Tree.

Indications

Mind & Spirit – Used in inhalation it clears the head, relieves intellectual fatigue, and gives the mind strength and clarity. Used for nervous disorders especially those associated with weakness, indecision or hysteria.

Body – Provides relief of sinus congestion, asthma, bronchitis and coughing. Relieves fever. Basil stimulates the lungs, dries damp, expels phlegm and relieves wheezing. Supports yang energy. Useful for digestive disorders – spasms, nausea, vomiting and hiccups. Regulates scanty periods.

Skin & Hair – Recommended for insect bites but not for use in baths or on the scalp.

Contraindications

Avoid during pregnancy (emmenagogue)
