Description
The clove tree is an evergreen that grows up to 8–12 meters (26–39 ft) tall, with large leaves and crimson flowers grouped in terminal clusters. The flower buds initially have a pale hue, gradually turn green, then transition to a bright red when ready for harvest.
Characteristics
Clove oil, which ranges in color from colorless to light yellow and has a strong, spicy aroma.

Steam distillation.
General
Cloves are the aromatic flower buds of a tree in the family Myrtaceae, Syzygium aromaticum. They are native to the Maluku Islands in Indonesia, and are commonly used as a spice.
Blends well with
Basil, Bergamot, Cinnamon, Clary Sage, Grapefruit, Lavender, Lemon, Orange, Peppermint, Rose, Rosemary, Ylang Ylang.
Indications
Mind & Spirit – An invigorating and mentally stimulating essential oil.
Body – Very helpful for use in blends intended to help relieve pain. It is also a powerful antimicrobial essential oil
Skin & Hair – Not generally recommended. Clove essential oil can be very irritating to the skin.
