Description

An evergreen shrub or tree which grows up to 6 meters high. It has small flowers and little round berries, which are green in the first year, turning black in the second and third years.

Characteristics

Clear, refreshing and slightly woody.

General

Juniper played a major medicinal role in treating many contagious diseases and was used in early centuries to guard against the plague. It is of course famous as an ingredient in gin.

Blends well with

Bergamot, Frankincense, Geranium, Lavender, Sweet orange, Lemongrass, Lemon, Lime, Rosemary and Sandalwood.

Indications

Mind & Spirit – Clears, stimulates and strengthens the nerves. It purifies the atmosphere, supporting the spirit in challenging situations (vaporizer).

Body – Regarded as one of the most effective detoxifiers and diuretics. Assists in providing relief from gout, arthritis and rheumatism. Also valuable to use for the treatment of cellulite (massage, bath or blended in a base cream).

Skin & Hair – A tonic for oily and congested skins. Useful for treating acne, blocked pores (compress or blended in a base cream).

Contraindications

Sensitizing, may be slightly irritating. Should not be used by those with kidney disease. Not recommended for use through pregnancy.
